Michiru Mountain’s Fight for Survival: From Emergency to Conservation!

DO YOU REMEMBER MICHIRU – NOW OR NEVER?

One year ago, Michiru Mountain was on the brink of destruction—poachers cutting down trees daily, illegal charcoal syndicates thriving. But the surrounding communities stood up, took action, and began the fight to reclaim and protect Blantyre’s last indigenous forest!

The Michiru Mountain Community Scouts…

✅ were trained in law enforcement.
✅ reduced the number of poachers from 1,000 to approx. 20.
✅ actively patrol on a voluntary basis.
✅ destroyed over 300 illegal charcoal kilns.
✅ arrested 98 poachers, with 54 successfully prosecuted.
✅ removed 100% of poachers from other districts.
✅ saved the last indigenous forest in Blantyre, Malawi.
